I collect books like this that tell the truer story of our world and our nation. I will be buying a copy of this book and include it in my library, which is by no means complete, but contemporary to these times. I was told by a friend to find a place to donate said books before I die so an alternative narrative survives. Since I do not trust digital, which is dependent upon electrical currents, and as digital archives were erased at one point, I find this the best way to preserve truth. I understand libraries are supposed to do that, but. . . Books and the authors of such show a dedication to research, a passion for truth and are so much more trustworthy than "shorts" or podcasts or other media. Books remain supreme in my world for vital information about our shared world. Bless all those, driven by the undercurrent of the passion of their beliefs to sit down and write it out and share it with the rest of us. "Play the man, Master Ridley; we shall this day light such a candle, by God's grace, in England, as I trust shall never be put out." Fahrenheit 451." Such words in that novel inspired me because I felt it was not something that could be made up, but was taken from actual history, and as it turned out, having done the research into the quote before it became popularly known . . ., let's say I sometimes like to be correct in my instincts. I am more than 70 now.

I agree with you and I am doing the same. You need "I Accuse" in your library as well.

Paula's avatar

What does that mean? I did a short look up. Doesn't say how it applies to libraries. Duh, it's a title of a book. Will look it up.

You might look up the "Le Printemps des Sayanim (‘The Sayanim Spring’)" by Jacob Cohen. Not allowed to be translated into English so you must know French language. I ordered it, even though I can't read or write a word of French. But did watch an interview of the author in English that inspired me to do so.

The Italians have a saying, "the truth will set us free." I feel the truth a very powerful tool against the destruction of our planet. If told in schools, like the history of our several presidents assassinated because they wanted what Gaddafi wanted; their own created monies as currency. That's a wow most Americans have no idea of. Look up the following by the an author who was murdered for saying so.

Put a specific in your will for these Paula or else they will end up in a charity shop. Maybe to a university library or similar?

“If there were an Oscar for Best Dramatic Performance by a Race-Supremacist Nation, Israel would win hands down every year.”

I disagree; the acting is as bad as can be, in line with the crummiest of production values. They don’t bother trying even a little. With “Israel” in the competition, surely other actors, superior actors, from wanna-be Race-Supremacist Nations would leave “Israel” in the dust.

At this moment, Israel stands alone in the scale of the threat it poses. If allowed to continue unchecked, it could grow into a force comparable to Nazi Germany. With the support of allies like the United States and the UAE, with tech companies like Palantir and others on their side, the consequences could be catastrophic for the entire world.

Nazis didn't have A bombs, this one does!

That’s all too true. When Iran hesitates to simply wipe out that depraved state, it likely is a careful calculation to avoid that specific escalation. Palestine and Lebanon seem to be sacrifices, but hopefully not much longer, as an end to “Israel” is coordinated behind the scenes.

It's not the quality of the acting, it's the quantity of the victim roles

The people who pre-ordered the book will be glad they did it after reading the review; I thought it was good!

The reviewer writes that the book is “the most exacting account we are likely to get of how the high officials of the international order behaved while a people was destroyed in front of them.” He recognises the importance of the book and praises the writer’s approach and analysis. Whenever the reviewer is a bit catty, as when he calls the book an “archive”, he makes up for it immediately by writing that “the book is a deposit against a future reckoning” if there is ever one to come.

The reviewer’s criticisms are mostly conversation starters, such as questioning whether we should be surprised that all those international organisations are failing to prevent genocide, or whether they were always meant to fail and serve only the interests of the most powerful country in the world, etc.

It’s a very good review.

Looking forward to reading it.

Where did they get the book first of all? :) I pre-ordered it, to be delivered in September... that's not fair...

Fran's avatar

Reviewers get ‘advance review’ copies. So they can put out reviews that generate interest in buying the book.

Gemma's avatar

Still not fair :)

It's who you know Gemma.. 😂 (I'm in the same queue as yourself...)

I believe selected reviewers receive proofs before publication.

After reading that review I'm impatient for my copy of the book in a few weeks.

It is indeed a very, very intelligent and carefully crafted review, and good on you, Norman, for promoting it despite what might have been a few blows to the old weary ego. But good on you, Norman, most especially, for writing the book in the first place. Despite the probable truth of the reviewer's final observation, hard as it is, many ordinary people who for life times swore Eretz Yisrael could do no wrong now think differently. Dare I say, you've done a mitzvah, Norman.

Just ordered, "I ACCUSE," & "GRAVEDIGGERS". I've learned so much from your work, and I do not take that for granted. I pass it own as best I can. I am glad you were born and are 'still alive & kicking'. (PS Your laughter is delightful & contagious...good to see/hear the heaviness of your research has not damped it down/out)

I liked what I read in the preview. Excellent telling it like it is; which, has increasingly become absent as society becomes more and more "impolite". Going willfully mass-insane on the "express train to hell on Earth"---mostly because of their rejection of God and Jesus the Messia(c)h---that I have been trumpeting from the watchtower [not to AT ALL be confused with the J.W.'s, who are neither of Jehovah (Yahweh), nor witnesses of His Love and Power] for decades. We are now in the time when the final prophecies are being fulfilled, among the few prophecies that were left to be fulfilled. The Books of Daniel and Revelation are now coming to fruition, and thus all Greater 'Israehell' on Earth is breaking loose, as evil is seeking to now eliminate the vast majority of us. So, where do we go from here? We completely stop rejecting God and Jesus the Messia(c)h.

"It is written, thus says the Lord [God the Father through Jesus the Messiah, the Word(s) of God and the Maker / Creator of all things except evil]...":

"...Even so, (return quickly), Lord Jesus (the Messiah)..."! [Revelation 22:20; clarification(s), emphasis and/or paraphrasing provided by me.]

How can Bensouda AND ICC "STAFF" have been threatened by Mossad but Sebutinde was never approached? This review was written before Bensouda spoke up?

Mick Jagger's song "Too Far Gone from 2000 record Goddess In The Doorway has new meaning for me, thanks. I'll pre-order next month.

From what I can tell, you can only get it in hardcover in Australia 🦘.

Elizabeth's avatar

'Not sure if it is still true...paperbacks are not published/for sale until 1 year after the hardcover has been out. I forget the reason, tho.

JoAnne Weiss's avatar

Hardback is only available at present. Preferable anyway.

The cruel nature of the Israeli capitalist ruling class and their Zionist ideology is undeniable.

However, there are Jewish minorities within Israel and outside that oppose the apartheid Zionist regime and seek unity with Palestinians towards a democratic and secular nation for Palestinians and Jews.

The question is how can the Palestinians find a new strategy to empower the Palestinian masses to overcome the present disaster and their present atomization?

The central question is not whether the Palestinian people have the right to resist oppression. They unquestionably do.

The real question is how to do so effectively. What forms of struggle can actually advance liberation, and which have become instruments of defeat? More fundamentally, how can the Palestinians move beyond mere resistance toward liberation?

It begins with a concrete assessment. What is the actual balance of forces? What political objective is being pursued? Can the chosen tactic or method realistically achieve that objective? Is that objective even attainable in any imaginable way? Do the objective, strategy and tactics strengthen the consciousness, organization, unity, and independent action of the working masses? Or do they substitute a military apparatus, a secretive bourgeois leadership, and desperate acts of retaliation by small numbers for the self-organization of the millions of oppressed masses?

If the Palestinians are to recover the initiative, they must first confront certain realities that decades of failed leaderships have refused to face.

In both politics and war, the side that permanently loses the initiative is ultimately defeated. A people cannot liberate themselves if they are unable to influence the course of events and compel their adversaries to respond to their initiatives and actions rather than merely reacting to those of their opponents.

It is not merely a question of what they are against, what they resist, but what they are for, what they seek to achieve. That must begin with the present reality.

What alternative strategy exists for breaking the present impasse and preventing the Palestinians from being driven toward national catastrophe, into the abyss with the culmination of the Second Nakba?

It is one thing to call to sacrifice for something, it is something entirely different to call for sacrifice for nothing.

The burden of proof does not rest with those advocating a new course. It rests with those defending the old one.

After seventy-eight years of defeats, and after the horrors unleashed on October 7 to the present, surely no serious person believes that the current trajectory leads anywhere except toward even greater catastrophes.

The present road leads only to annihilation: the physical destruction of the Palestinian people cast into exile,

If the annihilation of the Palestinians is to be avoided, a complete reorientation is required.
